How is crochet filling your cup lately?

For me, creativity is a retreat from the pressure and stressors of the world. It allows me to pour into myself, regulate my nervous system, and give back to my community. I’ve been crocheting for a decade, and it’s still my absolute favorite thing to do.

It’s hard out here. Whatever you’re going through in life, my heart is with you. I hope creativity can bring you some peace as it continues to do for me.

In May, I ran a fundraiser where 100% of pattern sales were donated to the Mental Health Association. I’m delighted to share that together, we raised $1000 for mental health programming! This is INCREDIBLE, and yet another testament of the power of our creative community to heal ourselves and those around us.

I’d love to hear about the gifts crochet is giving you lately. Reply to this thread if you’d care to share

One way I try to pour into our creative community is by empowering those who are leveraging their passions to start a business! Whether you hope to go full-time or just want to earn a little money on the side to fuel your yarn budget, I’m here to help.

Starting a business completely transformed my life. Because I’m self-employed, I can set my own schedule and prioritize my physical and mental health. If I can help others find the same opportunity, I’m all about it

If you can use support on your entrepreneurial journey, check out my newest resource, The Content Clarity Toolkit. I know how frustrating the social media game can be, so I designed this workbook to share the secret tips that launched my business to 200K followers across platforms and over 60K sales.

The workbook is currently 50% off! And with gratitude for following along, I'm delighted to share an additional $5 off coupon. Use the code CLARITY at checkout

You’ve got this! Have I told you lately I’m grateful for you?

With love,

Krista

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!

Hi crochet friend,

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

This is a cause dear to my heart. Many of us personally live with mental health conditions or symptoms, or we love someone who does. Plus, ALL OF US have mental health because we all have brains! So no matter who you are or what your lived experiences are, this month is for you

I began crocheting over 10 years ago to regulate my nervous system and care for my mental health. I hadn’t received any diagnoses at that time, but I knew it helps me feel better, so I kept at it. It’s been over a decade and it’s still my favorite activity. It brings me relief every day.

It turns out this is a real thing. Crocheting and activities like it help soothe the brain with repetitive motion, rhythmic movement, and bilateral use of your hands. Crochet is actually helping us rest, recover, and heal. What a gift!

If you’re like me, here’s how you can support the mental health of others while caring for your own (by crocheting, of course!)

Use the code MHAM30 at checkout for 30% my patterns, and 100% of the dollars you spend will be donated to the Mental Health Association of Rochester, my favorite local org for mental wellness.

And in case no one has told you yet today, you are not alone and you matter. Keep going, one breath at a time

With all my love,

Krista

P.S. If I can support you on your mental health journey, reply to this email!

If spending money on patterns isn’t in the cards for you right now, I still have something you might like :)

I just published a new YouTube video tutorial for this Botanical Bralette, and I’m SO IN LOVE! I can’t wait to make bunch myself to bring along to next year’s festivals and markets. I hope you enjoy it!

This has been years in the making, and I finally get to share it!

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know me as a crocheter. We’ve shared creative journeys by co-creating through patterns, tutorials, and inspiration.

But behind the scenes, I’ve been building something new…

And today, I’m finally sharing something that’s been months, and honestly years, in the making:

My course, The Creative Business Accelerator, officially launched today!

This course is a compilation of everything I’ve learned over the past 8 years of building my creative business, from beginning to crochet for mental health, to hitting the milestone of 50,000 sales, to growing a community of 150K+ makers.

TCBA is the guide I wish I had when I was starting out, and I’m so excited to share it with you!

TCBA is the guide I wish I had when I was starting out, and I’m so excited to share it with you!

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I wonder if I could make money from this”

  • “I wish my hobby could support itself”

  • “I don’t even know where to start with the business side”

Then this is for you. Inside the course, I walk through things like:

  • how to turn your craft into consistent income

  • how to create content that actually leads to sales

  • how to manage the “boring business stuff” with confidence

  • and how to build a business that fits your life, not takes it over

And because this is the very first launch, I’m offering founding member pricing at $100 off for a limited time. This is the lowest this course will ever be offered, and it’s only available during this launch window from May 1-10.

Plus, as a loyal friend, I’m throwing in something special just for you

For the next 3 days, if you purchase the course and reply to this email with your order number, I’ll send you a $25 shop credit to use on Spirit + Thread patterns :)

Thanks so much for reading, and for being along for the ride.

I’m so excited about this, and even more excited about what’s possible for our community.

With love and gratitude,

Krista

This used to limit my creativity. Maybe you can relate.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I have a feeling it might hit home for you, too.

If you’re here for the patterns and free tutorials, stay with me or find them at the bottom of this email :)

I talk to so many crocheters who say they want to sell what they make, but something is holding them back. And most of the time, it’s not their talent or their strategy.

It’s the quiet limiting beliefs in the back of their mind.

Things like telling yourself you’re “just being realistic,” when really it’s fear of putting yourself out there. Or feeling like your work isn’t quite ready yet, so you keep waiting. Or brushing it off as “just a hobby,” which makes it easy to underprice or not take it seriously.

I know how this feels, because I used to think the same way.

The voices holding you back aren’t factual. They’re limiting beliefs. And the moment you start to notice them, you can start to choose something different.

But here’s what I want you to hear: wanting more from your crochet doesn’t mean you have to hustle harder or lose the joy in it. It can look like creating things you love, sharing them confidently, and actually being supported by your work in a real way.

This is a huge part of what I teach inside my new course, The Creative Business Accelerator.

Not just how to grow, but how to do it in a way that feels aligned, sustainable, and actually supportive of your life.

Because whether you’re:

  • actively trying to grow

  • feeling stuck in your growth

  • or not even sure if growth is something you’re “allowed” to want…

there is a way to approach your crochet journey that feels clearer and lighter.

I’m so excited to share this:

TCBA officially opens on May 1st!

This is my first time ever launching this program, and I’ve built it to support you through all of these layers: strategy, systems, and the mindset shifts that make everything actually click.

I’ve truly never been so proud of something I’ve made in my whole life, and I can’t wait to share it with you :)

I’ll be sharing more soon, including limited-time founding member discounts + bonus offers.

But for now, I’ll leave you with this:

If there were no pressure, no judgment, and no “rules”… what would you actually want your creative venture to become?

Every successful creative business owner was once where you are. One day, they made an intentional decision to take themselves and their venture more seriously.

Maybe today is that day for you.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Happy crocheting!

With love, Krista

P.S. I used to be held back SO MUCH MORE by limiting beliefs than I am now. Growth is possible, and the view on the other side is incredible :) Come join me!

Looking for a new crochet project?

Check out my latest YouTube tutorial! This one was so fun and experimental. I’ve been seeing more and more crochet projects including draping chain stitches with beads, so I thought I’d give it a try with my Lotus bralette top!

It’s quick, easy, and so fun to customize. Give it a try and let me know how it goes! :)

If social media has been draining your creativity lately, I wrote this for you.

Crocheters, how are you doing out there??

Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of my time building something new, my course for handmade business owners called The Creative Business Accelerator. It’s a project I believe in deeply, and creating it has pushed me to learn new skills and think about my work in ways I never have before.

But if I’m honest, it’s also meant I’ve had less time to crochet and design than I’d like.

Crochet will always be the heart of what I do, and I miss it when I’m away from it for too long. At the same time, I know this season is temporary.

It’s been hard work, but it’s the kind of work that feels meaningful. The idea that this course could help put creative and earning power into the hands of makers and artists as entrepreneurs is incredibly motivating. That belief keeps me going on the long days.

I hope rest, peace, and clarity find their way to you very soon. And until then, I hope you keep finding ways to fill your cup

With all my love,

Krista

This is what AI can’t replicate…

Is it just me, or is your social media feed flooded with AI images lately?

I’ve been noticing more and more photos of crochet clothing and patterns that are AI-generated, and it seems like a lot of people can’t tell the difference. It’s made me think about how common this is going to become moving forward. I believe that to survive as creatives, we’re going to have to face it head-on.

But we have an advantage: the one thing AI will never be able to replicate is you. Your story, your unique experiences and perspective, and your personal reasons for creating.

This wasn’t the post I planned to share…

I wanted to prep this post in late December. Then I got the flu.

So I pivoted and set a new deadline for early January.
Then I got norovirus.
Then I was out of town.

I’m finally sitting down to write this a month later, brain a little fried, to-do list a mile long. And honestly, I think there’s a lesson in here. I scrapped my original email plans to write this note.

So often, things don’t go as planned. And when you’re running a creative venture—maybe alongside a full-time job, family responsibilities, or chronic health challenges—things will come up. That part is inevitable.

What matters most is how you pivot, and that you keep showing up.

It’s a new year. You might have goals and intentions you’re excited about, but I want to gently remind you (and myself) to be kind to yourself as you grow into the next version of you. We are doing our best, and we are doing great.

Much love,
Krista

P.S. From hobby to career (and everything in between!)

I recently shared a new YouTube video all about my journey growing crochet from a hobby, to a side hustle, to a full-time career, and the lessons I learned along the way :) I hope it helps you on your journey!

WATCH IT HERE!

If you’ve ever thought, “Could this be more than a hobby?” or “How do I grow without burning out?” I think you’ll find it encouraging (and very real).

I talk about branding, marketing, pricing, selling, and more, including:

  • What actually mattered at each stage of growth

  • How to build a crochet business that supports your life (not the other way around)

  • Practical mindset and strategy shifts that made the biggest difference for me

And if growing a handmade business is something you’re actively working toward, you may also want to follow along with my new project: The Creative Business Accelerator.

TCBA is launching this spring and will include 25+ video lessons, 10+ guided workbooks, and tons of practical, maker-to-maker tips you can actually use.

You can follow along on Instagram or Facebook to get updates as things unfold
